Applications invited for role of JBDS Co-Chair

The Joint British Diabetes Societies for Inpatient Care invites applications from enthusiastic and committed individuals for the role of Co-Chair of the group.

The role is designed to aid in the running of the highly influential and globally recognised JBDS Inpatient Care Group.

Supported by the Association of British Clinical Diabetologists (ABCD), the Diabetes Inpatient Specialist Nurse Group, and Diabetes UK, the Joint British Diabetes Societies for Inpatient Care (JBDS) produces documents that improve the care of people with the condition whilst in hospital.

Working alongside the Chair, the Co-Chair will help steer the group and is responsible for keeping the well-recognised and frequently used JBDS guidelines up to date on a yearly basis.

The successful applicant will have a proven interest in the care of people with diabetes in hospital.

Any aspect which raises the profile of diabetes inpatient care and improves care for those in hospital with diabetes will also be part of the remit for this role.

JBDS also has input into several organisations involved in the care of people with diabetes more widely.

This position is unremunerated and will be on a four-year rota with a view to taking over the role of Chair for years two to four.

The current Chair was elected in 2019 and will relinquish the role to the Co-Chair in 2023. Subsequent Co-Chairs will be appointed on this basis.

The successful applicant will need to bring an administrator to help with the role. Currently there are funds for seven hours per week, Band three.

For more information, or to submit your CV and a cover letter explaining why you would like to be considered for this position, please contact ketan.dhatariya@nnuh.nhs.uk.

The deadline for applications is on Friday, April 30, with interviews likely to be held in June.
